“Tech Trippin’ with Jenn and Ginny” AECT Standards 2.4 Integrated Technologies

Tech Trippin Link

This podcast is designed to provide an introduction to a variety of free or inexpensive tech tools, Web 2.0 tools, and web resources for teachers in nontraditional schools. Teachers and home schools, alternative schools, parent partnership programs, charter schools and private schools are the target audience. Our focus is on providing information that is readily usable, in small chunks, with a “try it tomorrow” focus.

Our first episode focused on four different tech tools: Quizlet, Animoto, Voki and Blabberize. We discuss how to use the tool and how it can be integrated into a classroom to enhance education.

I convinced a friend to record this with me because I think two voices are more interesting and we have worked together for so long that we thought we could bring a very natural and friendly vibe to the program. We tried to insert some humor, but I am not sure if that turned out well or if it is awkward.

Because we had to keep passing the microphone back and forth, the volume was hard to control and manage. This reduced the quality of our recording a bit. I seriously underestimated how long this project would require. I have learned the 3 minutes of audio requires an hour of time….on average. That does not include the time preparing the script/materials we used. All in all this project required about 15 hours, but I am sure that it would get less time consuming with practice.

I am interested in feedback about both the content and the flavor of the podcast.

This project required the integration of several audio technologies, research and production, thereby meeting the AECT 2.4 Integrated Technologies.
